College of Staten Island student
Heather Courtney of St. George has
received both the Belle Zeller and Melani scholarships, Citywide,
only 10 students were awarded the Belle Zeller Scholarship and just
five garnered the Melani award.
Ms. Courtney was selected from among 17 undergraduate institutions
and more than 200,000 students in the City University of New York
system.
A junior at CSI, Ms. Courtney has a 3.817 grade point average and is
a double major of Bioinformatics and English.
She put her Spanish skills to the test during the summer in a
special study grant she won in Ecuador.
Ms. Courtney is an active member of the school's student body,
organizing trips to cultural, educational and entertainment
institutions. She has also worked for CSI's Emerging Leaders
Program. As president of Unique Individuals, she has given her
administration skills to the club, which assists disabled students
in every aspect of college life. She has also served as a long-time
volunteer in the Ophthalmology Department of Bayley-Seton Hospital
and also has volunteered in office and patient support roles.
She has been the recipient of scholarships from the Business and
Professional Women's Association, the American Association of
University Women, the ArtLab Studio's art program and is on the
school's Dean's List.
Donna Riccardi of Baldwinsville, N.Y., formerly of Livingston, has
been promoted to account supervisor at Eric Mower and Associates.
In her new position, Ms. Riccardi will cultivate client
relationships and develop marketing strategies and proposals that
address clients' marketing communication needs.
Since joining the company in 2001, Ms. Riccardi has researched and
developed comprehensive marketing plans for many of the agency's
business-to-business clients, including Ferraz Shawmut, Pass &
Seymour/Legrand, Pyrotenax and Marquardt.
Prior to joining the company, Ms. Riccardi was employed at Sage
Marcom for six years in various account services roles, including
the most recent, senior account executive.
She received her bachelor of science degree from the State
University of New York at Geneseo. She is a board member of the
American Red Cross Onondaga-Oswego chapter.
Boris Goykham of Huguenot was named to the Dean's List for the fall
semester 2002 at the fall semester 2002 at the Georgia Institute of
Technology.
Undergraduate students earning a 3.0 or higher academic average for
the semester gain the distinction of being named to the Dean's List.
The Georgia Institute of Technology, also known as Georgia Tech, is
one of the nation's leading research universities, providing
focused, technologically based education to nearly 15,000
undergraduate and graduate students.
Gary D. Gotlin of Dongan Hills was a guest panelist for the Master
of Business Administration Program of Long Island University
Graduate School.
Gotlin currently serves as the public administrator for Richmond
County. He has been an associate adjunct professor at long Island
University since 1994.
The panel discussion's aim was to focus on building a better and
more responsive offering of courses.
The discussion focused on middle - to upper-management personnel and
on the skills and attributes that are required and desirable to
attain top jobs.
