BP's Address Set for Jan. 23 at CSI
Staten Island Advance - Friday, January 04, 2008
Borough President James P. Molinaro will deliver his fifth State of
the Borough address Jan. 23 in the Center for the Arts at the
College of Staten Island, Willowbrook.
Molinaro will use the speech to look back on his past
accomplishments, including his efforts to revive the South Beach
boardwalk area, and also will give updates on current initiatives,
such as the renaissance of St. George and the ongoing effort to
market Staten Island as a tourist destination.
The borough president also will address a number of areas where he
wants to see progress made over his last two years in office,
including battling traffic congestion, improving mass transit and
creating a borough-based economy so Islanders don't have to commute
great distances to work.
"It runs the whole gamut," Deputy Borough President Edward Burke
said of the speech. Molinaro is term-limited out of office at the
end of 2009.
The one-hour presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited
to 450 people and tickets are required.
Those interested in attending should call the borough president's
office at 718-816-2236 for information.
Invitations to the event are also being mailed by Borough Hall. The
speech is sponsored by SI Bank and Trust.
