

Psychological Association Will Host Brunch

The Richmond County Psychological Association (RCPA) will hold its
Annual Brunch on April 13, at 11:30 a.m. in the Staaten, West
Brighton. Tickets cost $40 per person; $25 for students. For more

The guest speaker will be psychologist Dr. David Podell, who will
discuss, "Difficult-to-Teach Students: How Learner Characteristics
and Teacher Characteristics Interact." A licensed New York State
psychologist, Dr. Podell has served as Provost and vice president
for academic affairs for six years at CSI, retiring in February.
The Dr. Irene Deitch Humanitarian Public Service Award will be
awarded to Joe Madory, for contributing to the betterment of the
Staten Island community through the donation of time and skills for
public service.
Mr. Madory is vice president and immediate past president of the
board, Carmel Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Dongan
Hills, and secretary of the board of Project Hospitality. He is a
board member of the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin at Mount
Loretta.
He is on the advisory board of the Staten Island University Hospice,
and SCORE; and on the board of the Staten Island Inter-Agency
Council for the Aged.
Awards will be given to students from local colleges and
universities who have distinguished themselves in the field of
psychology and who plan to pursue a career in the profession.
RCPA is a regional affiliate of the New York State Psychological
Association that meets monthly. Its members are licensed
psychologists, associates and students who live and/or work on
Staten Island. Services include offering lectures to professionals
and the general public.
