The College of Staten Island
Library
As
technology revolutionizes research and creates a worldwide scholarly
community, the CSI Library has risen to the challenge of keeping
abreast of the latest technological advances to provide its students
and faculty with the tools they need to learn, and to change the world.
The Library benefits from a wireless network
that allows students, faculty, and staff to gain untethered access
to the Internet and e-mail. This CUNY first will give the CSI
community quicker access to a world of learning. In addition,
students can now check laptop computers out at the Circulation Desk.
The Library has also updated its Videoconference Center to give all
CUNY schools access to satellite broadcasts, and provide for easier
intra-university communication.
The
Library houses 212,554 volumes, 877,357 microforms, 14,500
audio-visual materials, and 1,664 other resources. It also provides
access to more than 10,000 journal titles available in Full Text.
Computer facilities include a fiber-optic network and wireless
Internet access.
The CSI Library
is a 21st Century learning center,
and it continues to add new technologies and services to augment its
contribution to education at the College. As it eases the challenges
of conducting research and connecting people with the information
they need, the world becomes a much smaller, but more advanced
place.
